January 2023 - Sing a Song of Sixpence

Happy New Year!! I hope you all had a great Christmas, it feels like a long time ago now! We have been busy as always in the workshop with the January sale and getting ourselves in order for this new year. There is lots of lovely things coming up to look forward to, and we’ve got 5 months left of this year’s Secret Society! Well done to all those who have kept up, I know that’s not always easy for everyone but as long as you’re loving what you make that is all that matters! You will get it finished soon, as I must say it is looking great!!

This month we look at the nursery rhyme ‘Sing a song of sixpence’, another classic rhyme which dates back for centuries with some interesting theories! I do hope you are enjoying learning about them in your newsletters, and I hope you’re enjoying the free downloads each month here on the web too! I know some of you don’t even know this part exists, so if you’re reading this.. well done ha ha!! Enjoy your block and I’ll see you next month!! xx

Sing a Song of Sixpence - Jan Block

It’s January and we’re baking pies, counting our money and seeing blackbirds in the frosty fields. This is such a well known nursery rhyme, here is the instructions for this month’s block.

Mel’s Mincemeat and Pecan pie

This comforting wintery pud is a great way to use up those leftover nuts and jars of mincemeat from Christmas. I used Pecan nuts, but you can substitute for any nuts you have in the cupboard.

Vintage Half Apron Download

You’ll need this for making your pies and pottering around the house! It has a nice big pocket for picking things up as you go like odd coins… there’s tips for those in your newsletter!

Keep Warm and make a Quilt

This is my winter freebie, it’s important to keep busy in these cold months! If you follow a quilt pattern and keep chipping away at it you’ll have your quilt ready for summer picnics or winter snuggles!
